Membership is also open to those who have successfully undertaken the two year full time course that leads to full membership of the Scottish Tourist Guides Association and hold the Blue Badge qualification.
We also have some Yellow Badge members who are trained to the same standards, but qualified only for a particular route, in Orkney this is the walking tours of Kirkwall and Stromness.
Green, Yellow and Blue Badge members of the Scottish Tourist Guides Association are fully insured for public liability and professional indemnity, and adhere to a strict code of conduct.

All of our guides are happy to join you in your own vehicle for your tour, and all offer walking tours of our historic towns.
Some of our guides are driver-guides with their own fully licensed and insured touring vehicles.
A number of guides are fluent in foreign languages, and have passed the examinations required before they are permitted to guide in that language.
Many of our members also offer a range of other services to enhance your Orkney experience.

The Orkney Tourist Guides Association (OTGA) is a membership organisation open to those who have successfully completed the Orkney Regional Affiliate training course of the Scottish Tourist Guides Association, passed a series of written and practical examinations, and been awarded the coveted Green Badge.
Only those guides who hold this qualification are permitted to describe themselves as qualified Orkney Tourist Guides.
