Having worked as an archaeologist for over thirty years, I am delighted to be able to share my knowledge of Orkney’s many historical sites.

 

My special field of interest is wartime heritage, and I have spent several years researching Orkney’s role in WWI and WWII, as well as earlier times.

 

My company Stromness Tours Ltd is the only company to run guided tours of the fascinating Ness Battery, one of Britain’s best-preserved wartime sites. 

 

This is believed to be the only coast battery in the UK that still has its wooden hutted camp, which features the famous painted mural inside the mess hall.
