A born and bred Orcadian, I sometimes need to be reminded how wonderful life in Orkney can be and guiding helps me achieve this. I love to instil a sense of wonder, awe and even surprise in my guests with tales from our distant and not so distant past.
We are lucky in having such a wealth of archaeological material in Orkney, but we also have a tremendous wealth of culture, heritage and history, all of which is just bursting to be told to the interested guest.
I have qualifications in Culture Studies of the Highlands & Islands, Interpretation: Management & Practice, and Orkney & Shetland Studies, and have just embarked on my PhD studies.
I am on the boards of the Stromness Museum, Orkney Heritage Society, and Orkney Singers and recently was part of the Orkney Storytelling Trust, and am always happy to speak to like-minded folk.
I qualified as an STGA accredited Orkney Tourist Guide in 2004 and trainer in 2010, but because I normally work full-time I have limited availability.
