Hello and welcome to Odin Tours of Orkney.  We offer private tours for small groups. All tours are unique and tailored to your interests. 

 

My name is Frank Gaertner and I am your driver guide. I have been a Green Badge Guide since 1999 and have a wealth of experience of tour guiding in Orkney. I can show you some very well known sites and some off the beaten track treasures.

 

Because your time in Orkney is precious it is important that you see what you want to and at your own pace.  My vehicle is a spacious and comfortable 7 seater VW Caddy Maxi Life. If you have a bigger group I will be happy to arrange a suitable vehicle or be a step on guide if you have your own transport.

 

There is so much to do in Orkney you can choose from some of the world famous Neolithic sites at Skara Brae and Maes Howe to places of more recent history such as the Italian Chapel and Churchill barriers. We also offer craft trail tours and a whisky distillery tour.

 

Car and walking tours on the island of Hoy are available. The tour may include visiting  the Hackness Martello Tower, the Longhope Lifeboat Museum, Rackwick Bay or just taking in the breathtaking scenery and enjoying the rare plants and wildlife.

Wir bieten Ihnen eine Deutschsprachige spezialisierte Reiseleitung für Kleingruppen bis zu sechs Personen in unserem VW Caddy Maxi Life an.Unser Angebot eröffnet Ihnen die Möglichkeit Orkney in aller Ruhe und Entspanntheit zu erleben.

Unsere Touren reichen von der Neusteinzeit z.B. Skara Brae,die Steinkreise von Brodgar und Stennes, die Grabstätte von Maeshowe bis zur jüngeren Geschichte von der Versenkung der Royal Oak und die Selbstversenkung der Kaiserlichen Flotte.Örtlichkeiten wie die Italienische Kapelle und die Sankt Magnus Kathedrale sind zu besuchen.

 

Wir bieten auch Besuche von Kunstgewerben an, z.b. Gold und Silber Werkstätten, Wollproduktion, und Kunst Gallerien, u.s.w..

Wir bieten Ihnen  Touren auf der  Insel Hoy an, wo Sie einen Wehrturm aus der Napoleonischen Zeit,ein Rettungsboot Museum mit einem Boot aus den 30iger Jahren und seltene Pflanzen, z.B. Die Schottiche Primrose sehen können. Ganz zu schweigen von der wunderbaren Landschaft.

Hier ist auch eines der wenigen Kriegsmuseen zu besichtigen mit einer umfangreichen Ausstelung aus dem Ersten und Zweiten Weltkrieg.
